The governing body normally meets 6 times a year and in addition governors choose to sit on a committee for which there are 3 meetings a year. Governors are also expected to visit the school termly for monitoring purposes.

The role

At Wooden Hill no specific experience is essential. However, the governing body would particularly welcome nominations from people with skills or experience in HR or business.

You will need to:

  • attend meetings and take an active part in them
  • help the governing body make informed decisions
  • get involved with the school and its pupils

You will be provided with training. This is delivered by Bracknell Forest Council or through the National Governance Association. This includes online learning for other sectors and types of work. This training makes school governance one of the best forms of personal and professional development.
