Support and training


The decision to foster is not always simple but it helps to know if you decide to proceed you’ll be provided with extensive support and guidance. As a foster carer you’ll benefit from:

  • monthly visits from an experienced supervising social worker
  • 24 hour telephone support
  • support and guidance from family support workers
  • regular support groups
  • therapeutic support if required
  • respite relief when needed (unpaid)
  • free social events such as coffee mornings and celebration evenings
  • free use of local attractions such as leisure centres, Coral Reef Waterworld and The Look Out Discovery Centre

We want you to enjoy being a foster carer, to be confident in what you do and proud that you are doing it to the best of your ability. We provide a range of face to face and online training opportunities.

In recent years we have covered a range of topics, including:

  • children who foster (a group for foster carers' own children)
